New Delhi: The Border Security Force on Wednesday arrested 12 Bangladeshi near the Indo-Pak International Border in R S Pura sector. The officials claim the men were trying to exfiltrate into Pakistan.
A BSF spokesman said at around 0130 hrs (IST), the security personnel noticed suspicious movement of some people near a border post.
The troops then lay a cordon and arrested 12 of them. PTI reports preliminary questioning revealed the arrested belonged to Bangladesh and were brought to the area by some agent on a pretext of getting them jobs as labourers in Pakistan.
A sum of Rs 358 was recovered from them and they were handed over to police for further investigation.
Incidentally, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee had said in September this year that he expects Bangladesh to cooperate on investigating terror networks in India.
Mukherjee said Dhaka was regularly informed of terrorists operating from its territory through institutional mechanisms, including the recent meeting of Home Secretaries.
