Telangana’s Bhadradri Kothagudem District is planning to teach their students in a new way. According to recent reports, methods from Vedic maths will be introduced in their curriculum. Last year, Bhadradri Kothagudem district did not achieve the expected result from class 10 students. In order to get better results this year, Bhadrachalam ITDA PO, Prateek Jain took a special initiative and completed all arrangements to introduce Vedic maths in the tribal ashram schools of Bhadradri Kothagudem district, keeping in mind past experiences. This is considered to be an innovative effort under the tribal welfare department of the district. Prateek Jain told News 18 that if the results are successful, it can be continued and introduced elsewhere.

Prateek Jain also said that if we look at the standards of the students across the district, they are afraid of mathematics, and they are confused. “So they are always lagging behind in the mathematics curriculum in the tenth grade exams; hence, it is clear that it has a severe impact on the pass percentage,” he said.

Taking notice of this situation, Prateek Jain has taken special measures to remove the anxiety about mathematics. He is considering handing over the teaching responsibilities to an institution that specialises in the mathematics curriculum. He has already held a meeting with Professor G Ramanaiah and the experts of the education department and discussed the procedures.

Reports suggest plans are being made to implement this new education system soon for the 6th to 9th grade students in 50 tribal ashram schools across Bhadradri Kothagudem district. This will benefit 11 thousand students in the district.

In the Vedic maths method, students will be taught how to do large additions, subtractions, multiplications, and divisions easily. Ten mathematics teachers from across the district will be assigned these responsibilities, and five schools will be assigned to each mathematician, who will teach four periods a day and work five days a week in each school. Scientific methods will be explained to the tribal students, so they can remember the principles along with the method of doing calculations easily.
