Ravindra Jadeja returned with a sensational seven-wicket haul as Saurashtra notched up a convincing 35-run win over Hyderabad on the second day of their Group C Ranji Trophy match on Friday.

Jadeja, who has been recalled into India’s Test squad for the upcoming series against South Africa, had snapped six for 75 on Day 2 and he followed it up with a brilliant seven for 60 to help Saurashtra register their third successive wins.

With this win, Saurashtra grabbed six points from the match to top Group C with 19 points from three wins in as many matches.

After an exciting opening day which saw two stunning batting collapses, the second day of the match saw Saurashtra post 215 all out in 67 overs in their second innings to set Hyderabad a victory target of 170 runs.

Chirag Jani (65) was the top-scorer for Saurashtra even as Hyderabad’s M Hassan (5 for 69) and Vishal Sharma (4 for 84) returned with brilliant hauls.

However, Hyderabad’s runchase was derailed by Jadeja, who struck right from his first over, as the visitors folded for 134 in just 40 overs at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

Apart from Jadeja, Kamlesh Makvana (2 for 28) and Dharmendrasinh Jadeja (1 for 22) were the other wicket takers for Saurashtra.

Brief score: Saurashtra 102 & 215 allout in 67 overs (CS Jani 65; M Hassan 5 for 69); Hyderabad 148 & 134 all out in 40 overs (BP Sandeep 46; R Jadeja 7 for 60).

HP respond strongly to Goa

In Dharamsala, Paras Dogra struck an unbeaten hundred as Himachal Pradesh produced a steady batting performance to post 298 for 5 in reply to Goa’s first innings total of 324.

Resuming at 265 for 7, Goa folded for 324 with Sagun Kamat being the star performer with his patient knock of 163. Snehal Kauthankar was the other notable contributor with a 186-ball 74 on the second day today.

In response, Himachal produced a solid performance riding on Dogra’s 139-run knock which came off 175 balls and included 18 fours and three sixes. N R Gangta also batted well for his 47 before becoming the last wicket to fall today.

Bandeep’s fifty takes J&K to 428

In Agartala, Bandeep Singh (63) hit a fighting half-century to help Jammu and Kashmir collect some valuable runs and put on board an impressive 428 against Tripura.

J&K then bowled well to reduce the hosts to 85 for 2 at the end of Day 2 at Tripura Institute of Technology Ground.

The visitors had started their innings at 303 for 4 and added 125 runs to their overnight total before folding.

Bandeep, who was on seven yesterday, batted well but skipper Parveez Rasool (130) could add only one run to his overnight total.

Tripura lost Arindam Das (4) and Udiyan Bose (40) and at stumps, Rajib Saha (34) and Tushar Saha (1) were at the crease.

Kerala make 322 against Services

In New Delhi, Kerala rode on Rohan Prem’s century to post 322 all out in their first innings on the second day against Services.

In reply, the hosts also made a confident start to be 66 for no loss .

Apart from Prem’s 101, which was laced with seven fours and two sixes, Sachin Baby also did well to be second highest scorer with a 51-run effort.

At stumps, Anshul Gupta (33) and skipper Soumik Chatterjee (28) were holding fort for the Services.
