An auto driver in Hyderabad was arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife to death on suspicion of infidelity. The incident was reported at the two-bedroom government-owned flat at JNNURM Colony in Hyderabad’s Abdullapurmet on Tuesday morning.
The accused, identified as Vijay, took his 41-year-old wife, Pushpalatha, to his sister’s newly allotted vacant 2BHK house on the pretext of cleaning it.
There, Vijay reportedly attacked Pushpalatha with a knife and stabbed her to death. He then severed her head and kept it aside in the flat, a report by Time of India said quoting police.
After committing the crime, Vijay exited the flat in blood-stained clothes shocking locals, who raised an alarm.
Police promptly reached the spot, and took Vijay into custody. Police also recovered Pushpalatha’s bead body and severed head from his sister’s flat, and seized the murder weapon from his possession.
Vijay has been booked under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), while Pushpalatha’s body has been sent to Osmania Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
According to police, Vijay and Pushapalatha got married 15 years ago and the couple have two children. The couple has a strained relationship as Vijay suspected his wife’s fidelity and used to harass her frequently.
In the past, Vijay has once left his family and house. He returned after Pushpalatha filed a missing case.
In 2014, Pushpalatha, who was reportedly enrolled in a beautician course, had filed an attempt to murder case against Vijay at Medipally police station for assaulting her.
