Manchester: Manchester City have increased their options and experience at center back by signing Argentina defender Martin Demichelis on a two-year deal from Atletico Madrid.
City manager Manuel Pellegrini made his move for the pony-tailed Demichelis after seeing captain Vincent Kompany ruled out with a groin injury and Joleon Lescott, Javi Garcia and Matija Nastacic looking shaky in central defense in City's last two games.
The 32-year old Demichelis will be playing under Pellegrini for the third time in his career, having been together at River Plate and then in a loan spell at Malaga last season.
Demichelis, who has made 37 appearances for Argentina, says "I am delighted to have joined City because I am still hungry for success and want to improve."
Financial details about the deal weren't disclosed.
