Five Players That Manchester United May Target During January Transfer Window
Manchester United are tipped to be one of the busiest Premier League clubs during the January transfer window, with Ten Hag aiming to land several new faces for multiple positions.

After Sir Jim Ratcliffe acquired a 25 per cent stake in Manchester United, fans were hopeful about the club roping in some big names when the winter transfer window opens. The new investment, however, is not allowed to be spent in January. That means boss Erik Ten Hag will have to rely on the Glazer family, which still holds the majority of the club’s share.

Manchester United are tipped to be one of the busiest Premier League clubs during the January transfer window, with Ten Hag aiming to land several new faces for multiple positions.

As the window has officially opened, let’s take a look at five players, who can join the Red Devils this January:

Jean-Clair Todibo:

Manchester United was eager to secure the signing of Jean-Clair Todibo in the summer of 2023 but failed to make it happen. The Premier League side may once again go after the 23-year-old defender, who made his international debut for France last year. With Raphael Varane set to leave the club next summer, Ten Hag is looking for an option at centre defence. In that case, Todibo can be a good replacement, given his performance for Nice in the ongoing season.

David de Gea:

Since leaving Manchester United in June last year, David de Gea has stayed out of football. The Premier League side may recall De Gea this January as they need an experienced goalkeeper in the absence of Andre Onana. The 27-year-old Cameroonian has decided to reverse his international retirement, meaning he will feature at the AFCON. His unavailability will let Altay Bayindir make his debut for Manchester United. But the club will need to fill the vacant place of a second-choice keeper.

Youssef En-Nesyri:

The Manchester United hierarchy might not be quite happy with the recent performance of Marcus Rashford, who has scored only three goals in 19 appearances this season. Going by the fact, the Red Devils might target Youssef En-Nesyri, a Moroccan forward who raised eyebrows with his goal-scoring ability at the 2022 Qatar World Cup. The 26-year-old is currently playing for Sevilla and has scored nine goals across all competitions this season.

Serhou Guirassy:

At a time when the Bundesliga is all hyped about Harry Kane, VfB Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy has managed to hit the headlines with his goal-scoring ability. The 27-year-old French striker has scored 17 goals this season, only four behind Kane. With Anthony Martial set to be released in June, Manchester United may replace him with Guirassy, who has a release clause in his existing contract with Stuttgart.

Kalvin Phillips:

Manchester United have struggled to showcase their A-game at the midfield this season, with players like Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Mason Mount all going through a lean patch. Ten Hag might aim to resolve the issue by signing Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City this January. The Red Devils may face competition from Newcastle United, who can only make a loan offer due to FFP restrictions.
