Anushka Sharma’s Monotrophic Diet: Expert Weighs In On Benefits Of Eating The Same Meal Every Day
This diet involves consuming only one type of food or a limited variety of similar foods at each meal or throughout the day for an extended period.

Eating the same food for several days may seem unusual to many, given that most people prefer a variety of dishes. However, some individuals embrace this eating pattern, known as the Monotrophic or Mono diet. This diet involves consuming only one type of food or a limited variety of similar foods at each meal or throughout the day for an extended period. Anushka Sharma, renowned for her disciplined diet and fitness regimen, frequently follows this approach to maintain her health and fitness.

Back in 2023, during an event for her brand Slurrp Farm, Anushka Sharma was asked if she could eat the same food for long. The actress reacted, saying, “That’s not a difficult thing for me because I do eat the same thing almost every day sometimes. Especially, when I am filming a movie. I eat the same thing. So, there have been times when I have had khichdi and baingan bhaja for a month straight for dinner. That’s all I have eaten. Or idli sambar for breakfast for 6 months straight.” While the actress’ dedication is commendable, there have been questions about whether this diet is ultimately beneficial and whether her food choices are right. To clear the confusion, gastroenterologist Dr Pal Manickam shared how this can help people stay healthy.

Referring to Anushka’s meal plan, Dr Pal in his recent Instagram post stated, “It is an effective tool for fat loss. It is simple, convenient, and most importantly, you can be consistent in your portion size. Also, it reduces decision fatigue and prevents you from the impulsiveness to eat more.” The expert suggested that if someone is pre-planning to take on a monotrophic diet, then they should make sure to include all macronutrients in the meal, which include carbohydrates, proteins, and fat.

Moreover, pointing to how Anushka ate Idli Sambar for a long time, the expert suggests why this particular dish is quite healthy. Dr Pal explained, “The fermentation in the idli and the lentil in the sambar has given her good gut bacteria that stimulated her gut skin axis so that all the absorption of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants has happened beautifully.” He concludes by saying this goes a long way in providing glowing skin.
