Shehnaaz Gill kick-started a new chapter in her life in 2023. In April, she marked her big Bollywood debut with Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and followed it up with the sex-positive comedy Thank You For Coming that saw her share screen space with Bhumi Pednekar, Shibani Bedi, Dolly Singh and Kusha Kapila. The films might not have performed well at the box office but she grabbed a lot of attention for both. She also made headlines for breaking her desi avatar with her edgy and fashion choices.
As the year comes to a close, we take a look at Shehnaaz’s plans and aspirations pertaining to her career ahead. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, she revealed that 2023 has been a rather eventful year for her and opened her eyes and changed her outlook towards life. “I’ve become a little more matured now if not completely. Earlier, I used to be very childish. I now know to handle and tackle certain situations better,” she said.
Having worked with Salman, she now looks forward to ticking off a check box that has been on her mind for the longest time. “Going ahead, I want to work with all the superstars. But if I have put my finger on someone, it will be Ranbir Kapoor. I’ve never met him in person but I’ve seen him at events from afar,” she shared.
While she remained tight-lipped about her upcoming Bollywood projects, Shehnaaz revealed that she has no qualms about auditioning anymore and learnt that it’s the only way to land the kind of films and roles that she wants to. Talking about it, she stated, “I wouldn’t go in for auditions before Bigg Boss. Now I’m open to giving auditions. Earlier, I didn’t know the value of auditioning. Now I know.”
So, how does she plan on dealing with rejections? “Rejection is a part and parcel of our lives. Even if I get rejected, I know that I’ll learn a lot from it. I feel a person should experience rejections. We shouldn’t be scared of failure because it’s an integral part of life,” said the actor, who became a household name with Bigg Boss 13.
The 29-year-old further added, “Success isn’t everything, we should fail sometimes too. We’ll achieve what destiny has in store for us. And destiny always has some amazing things planned. I don’t think our fate has only bad situations written for us.”
But she’s indeed happy with the way she has successfully been able to change people’s perspective and perception about her. Shehnaaz told us, “When people attach a certain image with you and then you defy that, they are left shocked. It’s only over a period of time that they start looking at you differently and start thinking that you’re capable of so much more. Acceptance takes time. Like people now know that I’m not just a desi girl.”
