When Will Pace Sensation Mayank Yadav Play His Next IPL Match? LSG Captain KL Rahul Gives Major Update
Mayank Yadav has missed Lucknow Super Giants' last two games and is expected to sit out from a couple more as per captain KL Rahul.

Mayank Yadav will continue his recovery from a lower abdomen recovery and may end up missing Lucknow Super Giants’ next two IPL 2024 matches as well, says captain KL Rahul. Mayank shot into global limelight with his raw pace after making his IPL debut against Punjab Kings and winning player-of-the-match awards in his first two matches.

However, he managed to bowl just one over against Gujarat Titans, his third match of the season before leaving the field and taking no further part in the contest. He then ended up missing LSG’s next two fixtures including the Friday night’s defeat to Delhi Capitals.

“Mayank is not too bad; he looks good, feeling good but we also want to make sure we don’t rush him back in too early,” Rahul said during a chat with the broadcasters. “He’s young, we need to protect his body. He’s itching to go, we just have to pull him back a little, maybe a couple of more games, before he comes back.”

LSG were kept to 167/7 by the DC and that they were even able to post a competitive total was thanks to a fine half-century from Ayush Badoni who made 55 off 35 while batting at no.8.

DC ended up overhauling the target in 18.1 overs thanks to a half-century on debut from their Australian import Jake Fraser-McGurk.

“McGurk, the new guys when they come in, was very unknown. We’ve watched a lot of videos of him but he hit the ball really well, credit to him,” Rahul said.

Rahul felt LSG were 15-20 runs short and credited DC spinner Kuldeep Yadav for keeping his batters quiet.

“We were 15-20 short, should’ve capitalised to get 180. There was a bit of help for seamers, odd-ball was keeping low and Kuldeep put the brakes on our batting group. We fought till the end,” he said.

Kuldeep took 3/20 from four overs to win player-of-the-match award.

“We were in the game till the 10th over, then a dropped catch and then Rishabh-McGurk took it away from us. In hindsight, can wonder if we could’ve done something differently (with Nicholas Pooran’s batting position),”  Rahul said.
