Virat Kohli 58 Runs Away From Overtaking Sachin Tendulkar; Set to Become First Batter in 147 Years to Achieve Monumental Feat
There lies one more feather that could possibly be added to Kohli's cap, as he approaches a seemingly unimaginable feat which could be attained in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.

What’s a King to a God? Well, it seems as if one is on the precipice of overthrowing the other, as ‘King’ Virat Kohli lies on the verge of overtaking the ‘God of Cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar to achieve a feat that hasn’t been done so in the 147 years of international cricket so far.

It is no surprise to anyone that Kohli has drawn comparison with Tendulkar over the course of his career. Much debate has arisen regarding who’s better, and statistics galore have been thrown around to make the case for either.

Tendulkar’s 100 centuries obviously stands tall as the ultimate feat in cricket, as Kohli reamains chasing, currently lying second on the list with his majestic 80 centuries as well.

But, there lies one more feather that could possibly be added to Kohli’s cap, as he approaches a seemingly unimaginable feat which could be attained in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.

With 26,942 runs accumulated across all formats of international cricket over 591 innings in his career so far, Kohli remains 58 runs away from the pinnacle of 27,000 runs.

Tendulkar is currently the fastest to reach the milestone, which he did so in 623 innings (226 Test innings, 396 ODI innings, 1 T20I innings). So, if Kohli could score 58 runs within his next 8 innings, he shall become the fastest to reach the milestone and most importantly, the first cricketer in the 147-year history of international cricket to reach 27,000 runs in less than 600 innings.

Kumar Sangakkara and Ricky Ponting are the two other batters in the history of international cricket to even score 27,000 runs.

With the Bangladesh Test series looming around the corner, Kohli arrived in Chennai early yesterday morning as reported by PTI and will surely be eager to get back in whites representing the national team after helping India lift their second T20 World Cup title, following which both Kohli and Rohit announced their retirement from the format.

With just the 50-over and the 5-day format to worry about, the senior duo will look to put their best foot forward as Team India aims to make it to their third consecutive final in the World Test Championship.

The Indian team are already at the top of the WTC standings but would not be interested in putting their foot off the pedal anytime soon.
