USA vs Ireland Florida Weather Update: Thunderstorms Expected, Rain Could Eliminate Pakistan

India, Australia, West Indies, South Africa, Afghanistan are the five teams to have qualified for the Super Eight stage of the 2024 T20 World Cup. Out of the 20 participating teams, six have been eliminated from the race meaning nine are still hopeful of making it to the next round.

Two of those hopefuls – co-hosts USA and Ireland – will be locking horns tonight. A win for USA will not only seal them a spot in the Super Eight but also spell the end of campaign for Ireland and former champions Pakistan.

The match is slated to be held in Lauderhill (Florida) aka The Sunshine State. However, it’s not living up to its name for the past few days as it continues to witness heavy downpour with visuals of flooded streets, submerged neighbourhoods and floating automobiles going viral on social media.

How rain could impact USA vs Ireland T20 World Cup Group A match?

Well, should the match be rained out, USA and Ireland will share a point each. In that scenario, USA will finish their group engagements five points which will be enough for them to qualify for the Super Eight stage.

Florida Weather Forecast For June 14

There’s forecast of rain on Friday. The match is slated to get underway from 10:30 AM local time (8 PM IST). There’s 39 per cent probability (as of now) of rain during the toss time (10 AM). However, as the day progresses, the chances will continue to rise.

What if the weather stays clear?

Well, even if rain permits the prospect of five-overs-a-side contest, then a win for USA will seal their passage. However, should Ireland win, it will keep all four teams alive in the race and the net run-rate could end up making the difference.
