South Africa have revealed their 15-man squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 set to be co-hosted by USA and West Indies in June this year. Aiden Markram has been named captain with Ryan Rickelton and Ottniel Baartman – both uncapped in T20Is – being rewarded for their impressive show in the recent SA20 – South Africa’s franchise T20 tournament.
Temba Bavuma, Raisse van der Dussen, Rilee Roussow and Wayne Parnell have been ignored. Bavuma led South Africa in the last two T20 World Cups.

Aiden Markram (captain), Ottniel Baartman, Gerald Coetzee, Quinton de Kock, Bjorn Fortuin, Reeza Hendricks, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, David Miller, Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tabraiz Shamsi, Tristan Stubbs.
Travelling reserves: Nandre Burger and Lungi Ngidi
This is the provisional squad with the teams allowed to make any changes till May 25.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) have also named a second squad for a three-match T20I series against West Indies ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Matthew Breetzke, Bjorn Fortuin, Reeza Hendricks, Patrick Kruger, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Nqaba Peter, Ryan Rickelton, Andile Phehlukwayo, Tabraiz Shamsi and Rassie van der Dussen
South Africa are taking five pacers to the world cup including Anrich Nortje who last played an international game in September 2023. Nortje will have Kagiso Rabada, Gerald Coetzee, allrounder Marco Jansen and Baartman for company.
The spin department will be led by Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi with Bjorn Fortuin as the third specialist spinner while skipper Markram also a quality option.
South Africa’s batting will be dependent on Quinton de Kock, Markram, the big-hitting Heinrick Klaasen, David Miller and Tristan Stubbs.

Pace duo of Lungi Ngidi and Nandre Burger have been named as the two traveling reserves.
South Africa, host of the inaugural World T20 in 2007, have never won the competition having reached the semi-finals twice in their history.
They qualified for the Super 12 stage at the 2022 T20 World Cup but finished third in their group and didn’t qualify for the semi-finals.
