Sourav Ganguly's Cryptic 'Choose Coach Wisely' Tweet Fuels Speculations Amid Gautam Gambhir Appointment Romours
Sourav Ganguly, former India captain and ex BCCI president, took to social media to highlight the significance of the coach.

Sourav Ganguly took to social media to warn the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) not to make the choice for the next head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team ‘wisely’.

The former India captain and BCCI president took to social media to highlight the significance of the coach.

“The coach’s significance in one’s life, their guidance, and relentless training shape the future of any person, both on and off the field. So choose the coach and institution wisely…,” he posted.

Although an announcement has not been made officially, Gautam Gambhir is reportedly the prime frontrunner for the role of the Indian Cricket Team head coach.

Rahul Dravid, who was given a six-month extension after the 50-over World Cup in October-November, has his contract expiring after the T20 World Cup next month. The former India captain has the option of re-applying for the post but it is understood that he isn’t keen on applying.

After guiding Kolkata Knight Riders to their third IPL trophy on Sunday, it is but natural that Gambhir is being touted as the next head coach.

The said statistic takes us back to 2011 when Gautam Gambhir first made the playoffs as the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders. Within the next three years, Gambhir led the Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise to two IPL trophies. He made back-to-back playoffs with Kolkata in 2016 and 2017 before leaving for the Delhi Capitals in 2018. Gambhir retired from the IPL as a player in the same season.

In 2022, the World Cup-winning cricketer made a sensational return to the IPL as the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants. He guided the KL Rahul-led side to consecutive playoffs from 2022-23 before departing for Kolkata.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has already ruled out the possibility of having different coaches for red and white ball formats.
