Jay Shah Congratulates Team India For Securing 280-Run Win Over Bangladesh In 1st Test
Ashwin picked up six wickets for 88 runs in the second inning, whereas Jadeja dismissed three Bangladeshi batters to seal India's win by 280 runs.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate Team India for getting the better of Bangladesh by 280 runs in the first Test of the ongoing two-match series played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Rohit Sharma-led side dismiss Bangladesh for 234 runs in the fourth inning to secure a big win inside four days.

Star Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin picked up six wickets for 88 runs in 21 overs to finish as the leading wicket-taker in the second innings, and three Bangladeshi batters were sent back to the pavilion by world No. 1 Test all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

Apart from Jadeja and Ashwin, the likes of Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Jasprit Bumrah also played a big role in India’s win. In his tweet after India’s win, Jay Shah mentioned all of them and added that the team will now look to seal the series in the second Test, which is set to be start on September 27 in Kanpur.

“Fantastic start for Team India in this year’s red-ball season! Absolutely loved watching @ashwinravi99’s calculated knock in the first innings and his match-winning spell in the second. @ShubmanGill and @imjadeja were brilliant with the bat and special shoutouts to @RishabhPant17 for making a grand comeback in Test Cricket and our pace spearhead, @Jaspritbumrah93, for crossing 400 international wickets! On to the second Test, where we look to seal the series!”

India needed six wickets to win the match on the fourth day, and Rohit Sharma’s men sealed the deal in the morning session itself. Ashwin opened India’s wicket tally by dismissing Shakib Al Hasan on the fourth ball of the 52nd over. The legendary all-rounder was caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal.

After Shakib’s wicket, Jadeja dismissed Litton Das for one run, and then he completed Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s catch of Ashwin’s bowling in the 58th over. He also got the prized wickets of Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (82) and Hasan Mahmud to finish the second innings with bowling figures of 3 for 58.
