Another game, another unfortunate dismissal for Virat Kohli in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 as he fails to convert a good start into a big score. He showcased an attacking approach against the spin-heavy Bangladesh attack in India’s second Super 8 tie in Kingstown but was undone by pacer Tanzim Hazan’s short ball that lacked bounce.
It was the beginning of the 9th over when Tanzim came into the attack while Kohli had just completed 3000 runs in T20 World Cup history. However, the ace Indian batter couldn’t take his innings ahead and was cleaned bowled for 37 off 28.

Kohli did show intent but was beaten by the lack of bounce. He went down the ground but was duped by the length and lack of pace. The ball shaped in late to hit the middle stump.
It was a huge wicket for Bangladesh and Sakib was so pumped that he loudly roared while staring at Kohli.

After dismissing Kohli, Sakib sent Suryakumar Yadav packing in the same over. The India no. 3 went off the mark with a cracking maximum but was bamboozled by the extra bounce in Sakib’s length ball. It brushed Surya’s gloves and Liton Das made no mistake in taking a clean catch behind the wickets to reduce India to 77/3 in 8.3 overs.

Earlier, Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and sent India into bat. India, the 2007 champions, named the same team that defeated Afghanistan on Thursday when Suryakumar Yadav scored a second successive half-century. For Bangladesh, seamer Taskin Ahmed is replaced by Jaker Ali as the team looks to shore up a struggling batting line-up.
India have won all four T20 World Cup clashes against their Asian rival and boasts an overall 12-1 head-to-head record. Victory for India would put them on the brink of the semi-finals while another loss for the Tigers would effectively rule them out of contention for the last four.
On Wednesday, India beat Afghanistan by 47 runs in their Super Eight opener in Bridgetown while Bangladesh lost to Australia by 28 runs in a rain-hit clash in Antigua.
