'Extremely Surprising The Way Rohit Sharma Got Out': Aakash Chopra on India Skipper Registering Back-to-back Ducks
Aakash Chopra said that it was surprising to see Rohit Sharma playing a rash shot on the first ball of his innings which he missed completely and got bowled.

Former opener Aakash Chopra asserted that Rohit Sharma made a poor shot selection on Sunday to register his second consecutive duck after making a comeback in the shortest format. The Indian skipper made a comeback to T20Is after a span of about 14 months but it has not worked out well for him thus far with two ducks in the first two matches against Afghanistan.

In the series opener, Rohit played the ball on mid-off and ran straightaway to steal a single, meanwhile, Gill had his eyes set on the ball as he didn’t make any attempt to take the run. The poor communication resulted in Rohit’s dismissal.

Meanwhile, in the second T20I, Rohit tried to go all guns blazing on the first ball as he charged down the ground to hit a big shot but missed it completely and got bowled for a golden duck.

Chopra said that it was surprising to see Rohit playing a rash shot on the first ball of his innings which he missed completely and got bowled.

“It was extremely surprising the way Rohit got out. He was playing just his first ball. He doesn’t play such shots. The ball went and hit his stumps. He got run out in the last match and was bowled for zero in this match. He hasn’t scored a single run in this series thus far,” Chopra was quoted as saying on his YouTube channel.

The former cricketer turned commentator further backed Rohit to regain his form in the Indian Premier League. He feels India need him to score quick runs at the top which he did in the ODI World Cup 2023.

“Run-out was not his mistake but the shot selection definitely was. There is no doubt about Rohit Sharma’s form and ability. However, he will have to be in form in the IPL and I feel he will bat like this only. We need 38-40, the runs he was scoring in the ODI World Cup, from his bat,” he added.
