Newlywed Sonakshi Sinha got emotional after actress Kajol gave a tight hug to her and her husband Zaheer Iqbal at their wedding reception. Kajol also danced to the beats of dhol with the newlywed couple at the star-studded bash. Sonakshi and Zaheer got married in an intimate ceremony at the actress’ Bandra apartment on Sunday.
In one of the videos, Kajol was also visibly emotional after she saw Sonakshi in a red saree and sindoor. She then hugged Zaheer and gave her blessings to the couple. Another video showed Kajol dancing her heart out with Sonakshi and Zaheer at their reception. Sonakshi has worked with Kajol’s actor-husband Ajay Devgn in Action Jackson, Son of Sardaar and Bhuj: The Pride of India.
Newlyweds Sonakshi and Zaheer also performed their first dance at their reception which took place at Bastian in Mumbai. In a video, shared by Voompla, Sonakshi was seen blushing hard as her husband gently touched her face during their performance. The couple danced to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s popular song ‘Afreen Afreen’.
Several celebrities including Salman Khan, Kajol, Vidya Balan, Rekha, Huma Qureshi, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aditya Roy Kapur, Tabu and Anil Kapoor, among others attended Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s star-studded reception.
The couple has been facing a lot of unwarranted trolling, owing to their inter-faith marriage. Sonakshi and Zaheer got married under the Special Marriage Act at Sonakshi’s house in Mumbai. Earlier, Zaheer’s father had clarified that Sonakshi would not be converting to Islam.
Zaheer’s father Iqbal Ratansi told Free Press Journal, “It will have neither Hindu nor Muslim rituals. It will be a civil marriage. She is not converting, and that is for sure. Theirs is a union of hearts, and religion has no role to play whatsoever. I believe in humanity. God is called Bhagwan by Hindus and Allah by Muslims. But at the end of the day, we are all human beings. My blessings are with Zaheer and Sonakshi.”
