Release Of Sivakarthikeyan’s Ayalaan In Trouble As TSR Films Takes Legal Action
The High Court of Madras has issued a temporary injunction due to loan repayment issues of the film's production house.

Sivakarthikeyan’s Ayalaan, anticipated for Pongal on January 12, 2024, is currently facing legal challenges, causing uncertainty in their release plans. TSR Films Private Limited has taken legal action, filing an injunction against the release of Ayalaan, produced by KJR Studios. The Hon’ble High Court Madras, in an order dated 12.12.2023, has issued a temporary injunction.

A legal dispute has emerged as 24 AM Studios received a Rs 10 crore loan from DSR Films, with KJR Studios, associated with Ayalaan and Alambana, repaying only Rs 3 crore. DSR Films filed a case in the Madras High Court for the remaining amount, resulting in a 4-week ban on the release of both films. Ayalaan, already delayed for five years, faces additional challenges, causing tension among the crew, including Sivakarthikeyan. Fans express sadness over the release ban, but with Pongal a month away, hopes are high for a resolution before the festival.

Ayalaan, featuring Sivakarthikeyan, is a sci-fi film centred around an alien landing on Earth, with music by AR Rahman. Rakul Preet Singh, Isha Koppikar, and Sharad Kelkar are also part of the cast.

On the other hand, Vaibhav’s comedy film Aalambana is scheduled for release on December 15, 2023, also facing legal challenges. Both Ayalaan and Alambana are produced by KJR Studios. Aalambana, starring Vaibhav and directed by Pari K Vijay, is described as a fantasy comedy featuring Munishkanth as a Genie, with Parvatii Nair as the female lead.

Ayalaan’s producer has announced a lavish audio launch in Chennai on December 26, 2023, featuring a live performance by AR Rahman. The first song, Vaa Sago, has already been released, and the second track is expected soon. Ayalaan will reportedly showcase four songs unveiled during this grand audio event. Produced by Kotapadi Rajesh under KJR Studios, the event details were shared with fans through the official Twitter handle of the makers.

Ayalaan’s production, initiated years ago, faced delays attributed to extensive VFX work and a Madras High Court ban. Initially set for a Diwali release this year, the film was postponed due to pending post-production tasks. The new release date aligns with Pongal next year, considered an auspicious occasion in Tamil cinema. This sets the stage for a significant clash with other high-budget releases on Pongal, including Dhanush’s Captain Miller and Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s directorial Lal Salaam, creating anticipation and excitement among Tamil cinema enthusiasts.
