Chennai Floods: Actor Harish Kalyan Donates Rs 1 Lakh For Relief Work

Chennai is currently grappling with the aftereffects of the Cyclone Michaung. Torrential rains have left several areas in the city submerged in water with people being displaced from their homes. Several actors have now donated the funds for the Chennai floods relief work. Tamil actors Suriya and Karthi were the first celebrities from the film industry to come forward with financial aid of Rs 10 lakh. The distribution came through their fan clubs.

Now, another popular Tamil actor has taken a step to help the victims of the Chennai flood tragedy. Harish Kalyan, who gained fame in the Tamil film industry with movies like Pyaar Prema Kaadhal and Poriyaalan, has donated Rs 1 lakh towards the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund (CMPRF).

Actor Harish Kayan has now enlisted his name in the list of celebrities who have donated a huge amount for the relief of flood victims. He called it a humble contribution to the people of Chennai. He signed a cheque to CMPRF of Rs 1 Lakh. He uploaded the picture on X ( formerly Known as Twitter). Along with this, he also posted a letter. Take a look at the post here:

The fans of the actor called it a wonderful gesture and said that this has increased their respect for him.

Karthi and Suriya donated an initial sum of Rs 10 lakh to the flood-affected districts Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu and Tiruvallur. According to the report of Business Today, an estimated 13 people have died in Tamil Nadu in the flooding that was triggered by torrential rains that preceded Cyclone Michaung.

Oscar-winning music director AR Rahman pleaded to his fans for the contribution to the relief efforts by the government. He also asked the people of Tamil Nadu to stay together and spread awareness. Thalapathy Vijay has also requested his Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (VMI) members to join hands with the government in helping people affected by the Chennai floods.
