Mumbai: The rupee on Thursday appreciated by 14 paise to 62.43 against the US dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on increased selling of the American currency by exporters.
Forex dealers said a higher opening in the domestic equity market also supported the rupee.
The domestic currency had lost 4 paise to close at 62.57 against the dollar in Wednesday's trade. Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex rose by 54.07 points, or 0.27 per cent, to 20,315.10 in early trade on Thursday.
