HDFC Bank and Axis Bank will remain closed on January 22 on the occasion of the Ram Temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya

Major private sector lenders HDFC Bank and Axis Bank will remain closed on January 22, on the occasion of the Ram Temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.

“The bank (HDFC Bank) will be shut down for the full day on January 22, 2024 in Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand,” said a senior executives of HDFC Bank, according to a Moneycontrol report.

“Axis Bank will be closed for the full day in Uttar Pradesh on Jan 22,” said a spokesperson of Axis Bank, according to the Moneycontrol report.

The finance ministry on Thursday issued an order, in which it stated that public sector banks, insurance companies, financial institutions, and regional rural banks will remain closed for a half-day on January 22. The decision has been taken concerning the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.

Earlier, the Department of Personnel and Training issued an order in which it stated that all central government offices, central institutions, and central industrial establishments nationwide will observe a half-day closure on the day of the Ram temple inauguration ceremony.

The Reserve Bank of India has announced the trading hours for the day for the various markets regulated by it. All markets regulated by it, including the money market, repo market, G-sec market and forex market, will operate between 2:30 pm and 5:00 pm on Monday.
