Ram Mandir Ayodhya Pran Pratishtha Bank Holiday: On January 22, 2024, banks across India are slated for partial closures. Those with urgent banking needs are advised to take note of the designated holiday date. The decision came after a directive issued by the Ministry of Finance on January 18, which instructed public sector banks (PSBs) and regional rural banks to observe a half-day off today, January 22, in honour of the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.
Bank customers must be aware that while physical branches will be closed on these upcoming holidays, uninterrupted operations will continue for digital services such as mobile banking, UPI, and Internet banking.

Private sector banks have not issued a uniform announcement, but two leading lenders – the HDFC Bank and the Axis Bank – have decided to observe a full-day holiday on January 22 in Uttar Pradesh, Moneycontrol reported on January 19, citing the bank officials.
HDFC Bank is scheduled for a full-day closure in UP and Uttarakhand, whereas Axis Bank will be closed for the entire day in Uttar Pradesh.
Indian banks observe closure on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. Additionally, they remain closed on national holidays, public holidays, and regional holidays, which may vary from state to state.
