Varun Dhawan has often expressed his love for action movies, and now, his dream of playing an action hero has come true. After finishing the Citadel series, Varun Dhawan joined forces with director Atlee Kumar and producer Murad Khetani to create an electrifying action entertainer. The film is tentatively called ‘VD18’ before an official title is announced. However, it is now being said that the film’s title is ‘Baby John’.
An image of the film’s certification details surfaced on Reddit and went viral in no time. As per the post on the microblogging site, the film is titled ‘Baby John’. It also revealed that the film has been granted the UA certification by the CBFC. However, an official announcement of the film’s title is awaited. Have a look at the image here:

Varun took to his Instagram handle in December last year to announce that he had wrapped up the film’s Kochi schedule. Sharing a series of photos, Varun wrote, “Thank u Kerala. Sched wrap #vd18.” Talking about the film with Pinkvilla earlier, Varun Dhwan said, “All I can say is it’s a mass-action entertainer. There is a lot of entertainment in the film, which I love as well. And, I’m just going to give it my all.”
According to reports, VD18 is the Hindi remake of Thalapathy Vijay’s blockbuster film Theri. The film will mark Varun’s first collaboration with Atlee. Atlee’s last film, Jawan, featured Shah Rukh Khan as the lead and was a massive blockbuster. While Jawan marked the Hindi film debut of Nayanthara, Baby John will feature Keerthy Suresh’s Hindi debut. The film also stars Wamiqa Gabbi in a key role.
The movie will be directed by Tamil filmmaker Kalees. According to reports, the movie is slated for release on May 31, 2024.
