Jyothika said that the first thing that attracted her to Suriya was the respect he gave her. On their first meeting on the sets of the film Poovellam Kettuppar, Suriya spoke to her very casually and that appealed to her a lot, the actress said. In the course of the 7 films they did together, Jyothika added that she noticed that during romantic scenes, Suriya only acted to the extent that the filmmaker wanted and did not take any undue advantage. This was the second reason she was attracted to Suriya.
“I worked at shoots from nine in the morning until six at night for nearly ten years, and it had given me a kind of tiredness. By that time, I had made more than enough money for myself. Surya then made a marriage proposal to me. My entire family concurred. I got married the very next month without giving it any more thought,” Jyothika stated.
