Connor will pair up with Triton Submarines co-founder Patrick Laney as both of them aim to go as deep as 12,400 feet below sea level.

American billionaire Larry Connor is planning to go to the depths of the ocean to visit the site where the Titanic sank in a different kind of submersible to show that the deep sea exploration sector is now safer following the fear that crept into people’s minds after the Oceangate implosion.

Connor is based out of the US state of Ohio and plans to embark on this journey with Triton Submarines co-founder Patrick Laney and two others.

“I want to show people worldwide that while the ocean is extremely powerful, it can be wonderful and enjoyable and really kind of life-changing if you go about it the right way,” Connor was quoted as saying by the Wall Street Journal.

Connor, Laney and two others will as deep as 12,400 feet to the site of the wreckage.

They will use a $20 million vessel, named Triton 4000/2 Abyssal Explorer, developed by Laney.

Who Is Larry Connor

Connor is a real estate investor from Dayton, Ohio who founded the Connor Group. The company invests in luxury apartment buildings in the US. According to a report by Forbes, the Ohio billionaire owns and manages a $5 billion portfolio of 51 apartment buildings in 12 states ranging from Colorado to Florida. His company holds these homes for for five and a half years on an average.

Larry Connor earned his bachelor of arts and science degree from Ohio University. He also painted houses when he was in college and sold “damaged label” wines to college students.

He went on a research expedition to the Mariana Trench in 2021. The Mariana Trench is the deepest point on Earth.

He also took part in Axiom Space’s Ax-1 mission to the International Space Station. He also found the Greater Dayton School in 2024 which is the state’s first private, non-religious elementary school for low-income students.
