Lebanese TV Anchor Breaks Down Live On Air While Announcing Hezbollah Chief's Death | Video

A purported video of a Lebanese television anchor breaking down live on air while announcing the death of Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has been circulating on the social media platform X.

The visibly distraught anchor struggles to find words as she shares the news of Nasrallah’s death. Nasrallah, the Secretary General of the Iran-backed Hezbollah group, was killed in an air strike by the Israeli military on Friday.

In the video, the anchor is visibly struggling to hold back her emotions as she announces Nasrallah’s death. Overwhelmed, her voice trembles as she shares the news.

The TV anchor is believed to work for Al Mayadeen, a media network affiliated with Hezbollah, according to a post shared by a user on X.

The post read, “A News Anchor on the Hezbollah-Affiliated Lebanese Media Network, Al-Mayadeen, seen Crying following the announcement that Hezbollah Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah was Killed yesterday by an Israeli Airstrike.”

However, News18 could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.

Hezbollah confirms Nasrallah’s death

Hezbollah confirmed on Saturday that its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, had been killed, following Israel’s claim that it had “eliminated” him in an air strike the day before. “Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary General of Hezbollah, has joined his great, immortal martyr comrades whom he led for about 30 years,” the group stated.

The statement confirmed that he was killed along with other group members “following the treacherous Zionist strike on the southern suburbs” of Beirut.

Israeli jets targeted southern Beirut and its outskirts throughout the night into Saturday, marking the most intense attacks on Hezbollah’s stronghold since the group and Israel last went to war in 2006. Nasrallah had rarely been seen in public since that time.

The top Hezbollah leader was elected secretary general of Hezbollah in 1992 at the age of 32, following the death of his predecessor, Abbas al-Musawi, who was killed by an Israeli helicopter gunship.
