New Delhi: US fast food retail giant KFC, which was recently embroiled in a controversy after a customer in California claimed to have found rat in his meal, has come clean on the issue.
Days after claiming that the food item in question was not a rat but a white meat chicken, KFC has now backed itself with an “independent” lab report which confirms its claim.
The lab report, released by the food giant, declared “the battered and breaded cooked meat sample to be poultry”. The lab test results were confirmed on June 20.
While releasing the lab report, KFC demanded that the “right thing for the customer to do is to apologise”.
A statement released by KFC said, "Recently in the US, a customer questioned the quality of a KFC product which received considerable publicity given the sensational nature of his claim. The product has now been tested by a third-party independent lab, which confirmed it is definitely a piece of chicken, as we knew all along. The right thing for this customer to do is to apologize and cease making false claims about the KFC brand."
An image allegedly showing a fried rat in KFC food recently went viral across social media, bringing much embarrassment to KFC. There were also demands for action against the US fast food retail giant.
