Qin Gang has been removed from the Communist Party’s Central Committee, and former defense minister Li Shangfu has been expelled
China’s ex-foreign minister Qin Gang has been formally removed from the ruling Communist Party’s highest decision-making body, state media reported Thursday, as a key political meeting concluded in Beijing.
“The plenary session decided to accept Comrade Qin Gang’s application for resignation and remove (him) from his position as a member of the Central Committee,” state news agency Xinhua reported, adding that attendees also “confirmed” the party’s decision to expel former defence minister Li Shangfu.
