A lavish condo on New York City’s Billionaires’ Row has reportedly been purchased for $6.6 million by an entity linked to Britain’s King Charles. The nearly 3,600-square-foot apartment, located at 111 West 57th Street of the Big Apple, the US-based outlet Real Deal and Crain’s reported.
Documents list the buyer as “His Majesty the King in Right of Canada, represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs,” according to the New York Post. A senior trade commissioner at the Consulate General of Canada in New York signed the deed of the apartment.
The three-bedroom, 4½-bathroom unit is situated on the 11th floor of the skyscraper, which is renowned for its slender design and prime location just south of Central Park. The building is known for its high-end residential units, making this a significant purchase.
According to Business Insider, Douglas Elliman’s Erin Boisson Aries and Thomas Aabo represented the buyer. The condo, identified as Unit 11A, was the final unit available in the landmarked Steinway Building section of 111 West 57th Street. This section, which previously housed the famous piano maker Steinway & Sons, contains 14 condos. The building also features a tower portion with 46 additional apartments.
The condo boasts modern amenities combined with a grand, pre-war aesthetic. Features include an 82-foot, two-lane swimming pool with private cabanas, a private dining room, a chef’s catering kitchen, and an on-site padel court. The transaction was officially recorded in NYC’s public records database on July 9.
