Zepto Customer Gets 10Kg Atta Due to Expire in 8 Days, Offers to Send it to Delivery App Founders
A man ordered 10 kilograms of wheat flour from Zepto only to receive a packet that was set to expire within a week. Here's how he reacted.

A man named Gajendar Yadav recently had quite the surprise when his online grocery delivery of wheat flour arrived with an expiry date just a week away. Quite the surprise, right? Yadav took to social media to share this peculiar experience with Zepto, the online grocery delivery app, on May 15. He received Atta with an expiry date of May 25.

Accompanied by a snapshot, Yadav tweeted, “@ZeptoNow ordered 10kg wheat from Zepto. Expiry date is after 8 days, 8 din mai 10kg kaise khatam hoga @ZeptoNow bhai ?? Idhar ajao…mil ke khatam karte hai.” His post quickly gained traction, sparking a flurry of comments from concerned netizens.

“This is against FSSAI rules that mandate that at the time of delivery 30 percent of total shelf life or 45 days – whichever is lower should be available. In this case minimum 27 days residual shelf life should be available. Product should be shipped after 1 May 2024,” one user pointed out.

Another shared, “I have stopped ordering from them, as they do this with dairy products as well and same was the response. They are purposely selling products which are nearing the expiry date and earning profits, as these items are available at huge discounts at wholeseller shops.”

Zepto responded to Yadav’s post, expressing regret and asking for his details to resolve the issue. But Yadav wasn’t done yet.

In a subsequent update, he wrote, “Received call from @zeptocares and lady said NOTHING CAN BE DONE HERE…..EAT 10KG of WHEAT IN 7 DAYS. Unprofessional behavior.” Furthermore, tagging the Zepto founders, Aadit Palicha, Kaivalya Vohra, Yadav continued, “You need to add some training sessions of common sense and logic for your customer service. Atleast show expiry date on your app if you are running your business by selling NEAR EXPIRY products.”

Undeterred, Yadav escalated the matter by tagging Zepto’s founders and humorously proposing to return the favor by sending them 7 kilograms of the same wheat flour. He even went as far as sharing their addresses, adding a playful touch to his quest for justice.

And in the latest development, he shared a tongue-in-cheek update, suggesting that his post may have reached Zepto’s founders, prompting a sudden refund offer. In his words, “Lagta hai ye post founders tak pohach gayi hai ki unke office mai 3kg atta araha hai…..islye call kar ke refund offer kar rahe hai.”
