Being one with nature is a surreal feeling, but no one knows how your body may react to the environment. It could be nothing but a harmless sneeze or it could be a deadly allergy, altering your whole body. Something similar happened with Rosie Moore, known as the “world’s hottest scientist.”
Taking to her official Instagram handle, the ecologist Rosie Moore revealed that she was diagnosed with a “deadly” mosquito-borne disease. According to the scientist, while travelling in South America, she contracted dengue fever. In the video, Rosie revealed that at the start of the trip, she would find “a ton” of “bug bites.” She said, “But I didn’t start feeling weird until a few days in.”
According to her, the first symptom she experienced was severe eye pain, which was followed by a fever. The fever used to be so high, that she was unable to get herself out of bed and tried every means to cool her body down.
So, when she returned to the US, her body had a bad rash breakout, after which she finally decided to get tested for dengue, which confirmed that she was suffering from the disease. She wrote in the video caption, “There is no specific treatment for dengue, and while it can be fatal, most cases are less severe.”
Mentioning the symptoms she felt before the diagnosis, she said she had a loss of appetite, where she could not eat even after hiking for 9 to 12 kilometres. Further in the video, she expressed her hesitation to share her experience as people avoid travelling to remote places. She said, “But the trip was so worth it, and I would encourage anyone to get out there and see more remote places of the world.”
When one of the followers asked about her recovery journey, she replied that hers was “probably worse.” The reason she cited was the extreme physical activity she was engaged in when her body was not at its best.
