Woman Takes Revenge On Cheating Boyfriend By Reporting Tax Evasion, Gets Rs 83 Lakh As Reward
OnlyFans model reports ex-boyfriend’s tax evasion to the Internal Revenue Service, pockets whistleblower prize amounting to Rs 83 lakh.

OnlyFans model Ava Louise recently shared her lucrative and innovative revenge plot against her ex-boyfriend who cheated on her. In a TikTok video, Ava mentioned that she reported her ex-boyfriend’s tax evasion to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and pocketed the whistleblower prize that amounted to 100,000 dollars, approximately Rs 83 lakh. In her now-viral video, she said, “When my ex confided in me he never paid his taxes, then cheated on me a few months later I reported him to the IRS and collected over 100k in reward money. I’m spending his money daily while he’s facing years in jail. The female rage is a powerful thing.” As per Distractify, this TikTok has over 3.8 million views with several people applauding her move.

The IRS Whistleblower Office gives award money to those who report credible tax noncompliance. The website mentions that the “award percentage depends on several factors, but generally falls between 15 and 30 percent of the proceeds collected and attributable to the whistleblower’s information.”

However, simply reporting the tax fraud is not enough to claim the award. There are several conditions for the whistleblower program. Firstly, one can only claim an award if they are reporting tax non-compliance that exceeds over 2,000,000 dollars by an individual. Secondly, the accused should have a gross annual income of over 200,000 dollars “for at least one of the tax years in question.”

The IRS approves award money only when it can prove tax noncompliance from the tip-off and subsequently collect the underpayment.

In an article, Forbes analysed the claim made by Ava in her viral TikTok and noted, “Since the IRS pays awards from proceeds they collect, award payments aren’t made until the taxpayer has exhausted all appeal rights and can no longer file a claim for refund or otherwise seek to recover the proceeds from the government. Realistically, that means that the IRS generally cannot make award payments for several years after the whistleblower has filed a claim.”

The business magazine also pointed out that most taxpayers don’t go to jail for failing to pay taxes as “civil enforcement tends to result in collections activities like liens and levies.” Therefore, Ava’s claim that her boyfriend is in jail for unpaid taxes seems unlikely.

Forbes reported that in fiscal year 2022, the IRS paid whistleblowers 132 awards that amounted to 37.8 million dollars. In 2012, the IRS paid banker Bradley Birkenfeld 104 million dollars as the whistleblower award after he disclosed how Swiss bank UBS Group AG helped affluent US citizens evade millions in tax payments.
