Delivering food is a tough gig, and those who undertake it often find themselves overlooked and treated like mere machines. Regardless of scorching heat, torrential rain, or the ungodly hours of the night, these unsung heroes navigate every obstacle to ensure your meal arrives on time. Sadly, rather than acknowledging their human efforts, people seem to have developed a knack for ridiculing them when they’re late or even cursing them for hunger when they haven’t had a decent meal themselves.
Adding to this peculiar scenario, a woman recently shared a snapshot of a Zomato delivery partner requesting a tip after delivering her order in the wee hours. Intended as a lighthearted moment, her post took an unexpected turn as the internet unleashed its criticism, deeming it a social media faux pas.
It began with an ‘X’ user @priiyyyyyy, sharing a screenshot from a Zomato delivery partner who politely messaged her, saying, “Pls give tip after delivery,” with a special emphasis on “For late night.” The woman, finding the situation amusingly peculiar, snapped a screenshot and shared it on social media with the caption, “ajeeb hai bhai (it’s weird bro).” Notably, the messages revealed that the order was en route post 11:30 p.m.
Here’s the Post:
As the post gained momentum, the public response wasn’t exactly a round of applause. One user commented, “Sorry to say but such a shameful act, taking screenshots and sharing them without consent reflects greed, devoid of empathy and self-respect.” Another criticised, “Such a mean thing to do. Not even hiding the name, as if the person committed a crime asking for a tip for a late-night delivery,” while a third quipped, “The best thing you could have done is tip the guy. The second best thing would have been to not post this. Did you think you were gonna get laughs and lots of likes for this?”
A fourth voice chimed in, stating, “Not tipping the rider is one thing, but posting screenshots of this chat on social media and attempting to make fun of a minimum wage worker for the giggles is truly bottom-tier behaviour.”

In response to the mounting criticism, the original poster clarified that she did, in fact, tip the delivery executive and even shared some halwa with him. “I was just sharing my experience, aur wo employee hai he’s not working for free plus delivery charges already high the (I was just sharing my experience, and he’s not working for free, plus delivery charges are already high),” she explained. Nevertheless, her attempt at sharing the incident on social media earned her a massive backlash for being in poor taste.
