Woman Claims She Is The Pennsylvania Girl Who Went Missing From Bus Stop 39 Years Ago
Reports say Cherrie was last seen near her home in Winfield Township, Pennsylvania.

Various missing cases go viral on the internet every day. Recently, one such incident went viral, where a woman stirred up a new mystery in a missing person case. A woman claims to be the same girl who disappeared over 39 years ago. But strangely, her mother does not believe her. As per the reports, this is the third claim so far in which someone has said that she is Cherrie Mahan.

Reports say Cherrie was last seen near her home in Winfield Township, Pennsylvania, in February 1985, when her school bus dropped her off at a bus stop. The case took a new turn last month when an anonymous woman posted on the “Memories of Cherrie Mahan” Facebook group, prompting state police to investigate her shocking claims.

The post has subsequently been removed, and the lady has been banned from the group. Pennsylvania State Police, on the other hand, have been unable to reach the woman and are cooperating with an out-of-state agency to conduct a further investigation.

The police stated the case has been tough to investigate because of the length of time since Cherrie’s disappearance.

Meanwhile, Cheri’s mother, Janice McKinney, has rejected the woman’s claim that she is her long-lost daughter, who is now 46 years old. However, Cherrie was formally proclaimed dead in November 1998, following a 13-year search.

In a recent media interaction, Cherrie’s mother, McKinney, expressed her scepticism. “I genuinely think in her mind: she thought she was Cherrie. But she didn’t look like a cherry at all.”

This is not the first time someone has come forward; earlier, three other women claimed to be Cherrie. A reward of $5,000, or Rs 41,17,000, has been offered for information leading to Cherrie’s whereabouts. Despite this, McKinney stated that sometimes information was received around the date of her disappearance or her birthday, but no strong leads have been discovered so far.

Police in Pennsylvania are continuing efforts to identify the woman and are contacting an outside agency in another state. Reports suggest that while her post on Cherrie’s memorial page has since been removed, McKinney said she has always held out hope for her missing daughter.
