New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon’s video showcasing his batting skills has gone viral on the internet, attracting the attention of several cricket fans. PM Luxon uploaded a video on his Instagram account where he can be seen facing Kiwi bowling icon Neil Wagner at his official residence, the Premier House. In the uploaded video, Wagner delivers a bouncer to PM Luxon which he uppercuts at the very last moment. The unexpected finish led to a loud cheer from the crowd watching the game. In the video’s caption, the Kiwi Prime Minister wrote, “Let’s hope the Black Caps have Australia in as much trouble as Neil Wagner had me in on the backyard of Premier House!”

Several cricket fans have reacted to the hilarious sequence of events taking place at the Primer Minister’s residence in New Zealand. In the replies section, PM Luxon congratulated Neil Wagner on having a memorable career. “Congratulations to Neil on a fantastic career – the cricket world will miss seeing this great player in action!” One of the fans joked that it wouldn’t take long for the Kiwi PM to lose his wicket in the game. He said, “One hand one, one bounce mate. You’re gone”. Another said that the PM did fairly well to get the ball on his bat. “Did bloody well to get that bat on ball to that!”, the user wrote. One more individual said that he would miss Neil Wagner in official games as he wrote, “Will miss this man. Enjoy retirement, great man.”

Speaking of Neil Wagner, the retired New Zealand pacer recently received a warm reception from the crowd as he took to the field once again in a different role. On Day 1 of the Wellington Test between New Zealand and Australia, Wagner graced the pitch as a substitute fielder. The Black Caps even shared a post on X, highlighting the reception the cricketer received at the Basin Reserve. The 37-year-old had already announced his retirement from international cricketer after he was dropped from the current series to make space for younger players. Despite the heartbreaking decision, Wagner stuck around his team for the first Test by helping batters prepare in the nets, before joining them on the field.

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon is quite hopeful about New Zealand troubling Australia in their ongoing Test series at home. The Kiwis will be looking for a comeback after getting whitewashed in their previous T20I series 3-0 by the Aussies. At the end of Day 1, Australia currently stands at 279 for nine wickets in the first Test.
