Despite numerous warnings and tragic accidents, commuters continue to put their lives at risk by using their mobile phones while crossing railway tracks. A harrowing incident recently captured on video in Buenos Aires, Argentina, shows the devastating consequences of distraction. The shocking footage, shared on Instagram, shows a man narrowly escaping an approaching train while crossing the tracks. Engrossed in his phone, the man navigates through barricades, completely oblivious to the speeding train bearing down on him. In a split second, the train knocks the phone from his hand, and the man falls to the ground. Though he suffered minor injuries, he was incredibly fortunate to duck just in time, narrowly escaping a fatal accident.
“A commuter distracted by their phone was crossing railway tracks in Buenos Aires at 6:28 am when they narrowly avoided being hit by an oncoming train. The train grazed the commuter, who stepped back at the last moment, knocking their phone from their hand and causing them to fall to the ground,” Daily Mail wrote while sharing the shocking video.
No major injuries were reportedly sustained by the man who missed being hit by the train. The incident happened on October 15.

The video generated a flurry of comments on Instagram. Some people were shocked by the clip, but others said the man was very fortunate. There were a few others who also criticised the woman who was standing close behind the man and said that she should have warned him about the approaching train.
