The dog-safe treats are often made with custard, dog biscuits, yoghurt and whipped cream.

Anyone going to an ice cream van to get a treat would have spring in their steps. A golden retriever named Charlie is one of them. A video of Charlie eagerly walking to an ice cream van and then alerting the van staff of his presence with a small “woof” is winning over the internet. The undated video shows the ice cream vendor breaking into a laugh as he notices the dog patiently waiting for his treat. This video was shared on Instagram by a popular dog-centric account. It was captioned, “This is Charlie. He would like the usual.”

In recent years, many ice cream shops have listed special “ice creams” made for dogs and cats. These treats are made with a mix of custard, dog biscuits, yoghurt, or whipped cream. Starbucks’s famous “Puppuccino” for instance is an espresso cup filled with whipped cream. It appears that in the above-mentioned video, Charlie was also waiting for one such special treat.

This video has gathered over one lakh likes since it was shared on June 26. One of the most liked comments on the video read, “His presence is payment enough.” Someone wrote, “Filing a formal complaint ’cause we didn’t get to see him receive and consume his order.”

Many dog owners shared how their pets would act the same way as Charlie. An Instagram user remarked, “My dog does it everywhere we literally just got out of the butcher with free bones for her. She’s bf with the butcher now.” Another person wrote, “Oh my goodness, my girl would do this in line at Dutch Bros. Wait. Move up. Wait. Move up. Get fed pup cup from the barista through the window. Bestest ever.”

Praising Charlie’s “sophistication” and good manners, an Instagram user observed, “Of course he orders! He’s a man about town. Knows what he wants. Has built a relationship with these local business owners. He knows we’re all in together. He’s confident. He may be the most interesting Charlie in the world.”

An Instagram user recalled, “I had a dog do the same thing to me at my old job. I worked at Wells Fargo at the time. My friend wanted a treat and not a pup cup. Old man Walter would come to the bank, sit about ten feet from my area and just look my way until I noticed him. He was so devoted that when I was sick for two weeks, my colleagues said he came by almost every day waiting to see me to give him a treat. One of my proudest moments as a banker.”
