In the hunt for affordable medical treatments, individuals like Bryn Elise Wright from Colorado, US are traveling across borders to avail the cost effective procedures. Serving as a prime example of beauty tourism, Bryn claims to have saved a whopping $40,000 (approximately Rs 33 Lakh) for nearly 3 years by seeking treatments abroad. Her journey started in 2021 when she was quoted exorbitant prices for hair extensions in the US. Opting for a more economical approach, she turned to international destinations, starting with Istanbul, Turkey, where she received quality hair service for just $500 (approximately Rs 41,000). Since then, Bryn, accompanied by her boyfriend Cody Jorgenson, has travelled across 14 countries for various procedures.

As per the New York Post, she explained, I was getting hair extensions done in Idaho, they had raised their prices to $4,500 (approximately Rs 3 Lakh). It was astronomical. I started thinking about other options. I started looking abroad.” During that period, the woman discovered an Instagrammer in Istanbul who offered to provide the desired hair services at a significantly lower cost. She adds, “I thought there was a miscommunication at first. We worked it into our travel plans. It went wonderfully. I was blown away.”

Bryn Elise Wright claims she saved around $10,000 (approximately Rs 8 Lakh) on hair extensions, another $10,000 on dental treatments and $20,000 (approximately Rs 16 Lakh) on a hospital stay due to flu. Now, she chooses her next travel destinations where she can get affordable services. She further revealed to have done botox for just $140 (approximately Rs 11,000) in Istanbul compared to $700 to $800 (approximately Rs 58,000 – Rs 66,000) in the United States.

In Paris, she underwent laser hair removal for $400 (approximately Rs 33,000) instead of the estimated $2,000 (approximately Rs 1 Lakh) in the US. While in Bali, Thailand, she chipped a tooth and did treatment for $70 (approximately Rs 5,000), which would have cost her $600 to $700 in the US. Additionally, for a new crown and deep teeth cleaning in Turkey she paid $240 (approximately Rs 19,000). Even when she fell ill in Thailand, a 24 hour hospital stay cost only $120 (approximately Rs 9,000) for both Bryn and her boyfriend.

Bryn Elise Wright says, “Let me be the guinea pig. It’s saved me tons of money. We’re onto something.” Bryn claims she’ll continue traveling the world for affordable beauty treatments.
