This Indian Family Is Moving Back From Australia To Bengaluru—And They’re Totally Fine With The Traffic
What's particularly surprising is that the family is willing to face Bengaluru's notorious traffic over returning to their hometown in Gurugram.

Recently, there’s been a noticeable trend of Indians abandoning their glamorous lives abroad to return to their homeland. While living in a foreign country often promises a better quality of life, it also comes with its own set of challenges, beyond just financial concerns. One such Indian family, who relocated to Australia about two years ago, is now preparing to move back to India. One of the family members shared their perspective on Reddit, explaining the reasons behind this change in decision. What’s particularly surprising is that the family is willing to face Bengaluru’s notorious traffic over returning to their hometown in Gurugram.

Shared a couple of days ago, the post reads, “I am considering a move back to India from Australia, specifically Bengaluru. I am moving with my family, spouse, and 5-year-old kid. The reason for moving is the cosmopolitan and vibrant community of Bengaluru. Of course, Indian festivities such as Diwali, Holi, Rakhi, Dushera, Janamasthmi, Ganesh Chaturthi and multiple other festivals.”

The user also went on to highlight that he wants his kids to have challenges in terms of “academics and sports” that gated communities have to offer with sports classes, arts and crafts and multiple other avenues. “We are okay with the traffic as we can take apartments (rentals) in the vicinity of office spaces or metro stations,” the person concluded, seeking ideas from those who have migrated to Bengaluru from Western countries.

In reaction to the post, many took to the comment section and came up with a diverse range of ideas. A user explained how the family would not receive the same lifestyle and standard of living as in Australia and instead would have to pay a lot of taxes.

Another user urged the man to reconsider his thoughts by pointing out the disadvantages of relocating back to India. “Kids education is quite expensive here unnecessarily. Every other thing you mentioned is manageable. If u can get somewhere close to your family in the north that would be better,” another comment read.

Some also suggested many other options like Pune, Noida, Delhi and Mumbai, for a better gated community. Notably, this post comes just a few days after a woman reignited a fresh discussion over the job market in the UK. In an X post, the woman shared her decision to return from the UK to move back to India. She even left her better-paying job to be “happy” and “not miss her country” anymore.

What's your reaction?
