Monkey Steals Man’s iPhone In Vrindavan Temple; Returns Handset After A 'Deal'
Devotees visiting a temple in Vrindavan were amused after a monkey stole a man’s iPhone.

Social media platforms are abuzz with several cute antics and clips of animals. Undoubtedly, these short videos captivate the attention of internet users quite swiftly. From videos showcasing the adorable feast of elephants in the jungle to furry pal accompanying the pet parent to the hospital, these clips receive traction and much admiration from people. Now, a recent encounter of a monkey and a devotee at Sri Rangnath Ji Mandir in Vrindavan is raking in likes. On January 6, the visitors at Sri Rangnath Ji Mandir were shocked and amused when a mischievous monkey stole a man’s iPhone.

Despite making several attempts, the monkey showed no signs of returning the expensive gadget. At last, the monkey was offered something to eat in return for a handset. A video of this incident was shared on Instagram by a user Vikas. As soon as the clip was posted, it mustered significant attention and left many chuckling.

The short video shows two monkeys perched on top of a building. One of the monkeys can be seen holding the person’s iPhone. The man, whose phone the monkey took, tries to lock a deal with the animal by giving it a pack of Frooti drinks. He throws the beverage towards the monkey. Once the animal gets a hold of it, it instantly drops the iPhone.

This video has garnered more than 8.4 million views, so far. The share also has numerous likes and comments with a few users finding the monkey’s act quite hilarious while others terming it as a nuisance. Some even echoed a similar sentiment and recalled that they too had experienced this. Many others reacted to the clip using laughing emojis and expressed that monkeys are clever, they have new ideas on how to get food.

However, this is not the first incident, when monkeys encountered persons and stole their items. Another viral video showed how a monkey not only stole a woman’s phone but later demanded food from her in exchange for the device. The incident occurred in October 2023 in Bali, Indonesia.

Similarly, in August 2022, a monkey in Mathura was caught on camera stealing the glasses of DM Navneet Chahal. The officer was seemingly on a field visit in Vrindavan and was surrounded by a group of 20 other officials. In October 2021, a monkey was seen seated atop a cage holding a pair of black spectacles while the owner of the spectacles had to juggle hard to get it back.
