A man played CRED’s Friday jackpot and won a MacBook, iPad, AirPods Max and a TUMI bag worth Rs 3.25 lakh. The company asked him to fill in his PAN details so that the TDS on the jackpot can be paid. But his happiness was short lived as the company cancelled the jackpot blaming “technical glitch”. The CRED user shared the incident on social media and tagged the Bengaluru-based company’s founder Kunal Shah.
“Even though I usually do not fall for the CRED jackpots, but yesterday I just played the Friday jackpot without having any hope of getting anything meaningful. But I scored the JACKPOT and it wasn’t a small one. It included a Macbook, Ipad, Airpods Max and a TUMI bag worth INR 3.25L,” wrote CRED user Aviral Sangal on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Sangal claimed that the company asked him for his PAN details to pay the TDS on the jackpot but later cancelled it and credited RS 1,000 as a “good will gesture”.
Sangal added, “I filled out the form to receive the items and they took my PAN to pay the TDS on the jackpot. But a few minutes back I got a call from the CRED team that they had to cancel the jackpot because of some technical issue and they crediting back the coins and good will gesture INR 1K cashback.”

He shared an update saying, “Shamelessly CRED called me again to give me the same offer of refunding the points and 1k cashback which I have declined again!”
Sangal added, “Another call from CRED this more in depth. Due to a “Bug” there were 200 users who won the Jackpot. They decided to cancel the Jackpot instead of pausing, fixing the bug and honoring the 200 odd users who already won.”
He further wrote, “I have asked the lady that CRED needs to publicly acknowledge the incident publicly and to honour the Jackpot for all 200 users as the decision taken by CRED is only fair to the organisation and not to its users. I have made my stand clear that CRED needs to honour the reward or else I do have my legal options available to me. I will keep you posted.”

Another added, “Same happened with me but the amount was 40k. After 50+ email exchanges and a call I got my vouchers. Just stick to your ground – I need what I have won, nothing else.
Ask them to send an email every time for documentation purposes.”
“Where are the 200 other users, had it been the case with others then it would have already be viral in Social Media, CRED team finally caught naked in the act, so much mindless gyaan by Kunal Shah that they could not honour a meagre sum of 3 lakh, what a shame!” expressed a third.
Many in the comments section even suggested the CRED user to sue the company.
