India is a country rife with numerous beliefs and customs, associated with our surroundings or the kind of environment we live in. Local18 has reported on a unique case from the state of Madhya Pradesh, where the locals are catching donkeys and making them eat this delectable Indian sweet.
In the district of Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, the Navi people are giving gulab jamuns to donkeys, to celebrate the change in the region’s climate. Across India, the states are experiencing intense waves of monsoon with continuous downpours in many areas. The same could not be said about the Mandsaur district. The locals made the donkeys plough a crematorium and sowed some salt in the area. According to their beliefs, this practice will lead to good rain in the area.
The citizens of Mandsaur told Local18 that if this ritual brought about the much-needed rain, they would give the donkeys gulab jamuns. As per the reports, for the past few days, the district has been experiencing a heavy downpour. Furthermore, the meteorological department has also predicted heavy rains in the areas surrounding the Mandsaur region.
So, to celebrate the improved climate and situation, the citizens of Mandsaur, including people from the surrounding areas, are giving the donkeys gulab jamun, as a part of the celebration. The video of the locals feeding the animals is gaining a lot of attention on the internet. The now-viral clip shows two donkeys eating the sweet from a big steel plate, filled with it. According to the locals, these are the same donkeys who were made to plough the crematorium.
The reports state that the meteorological department issued an alert for heavy rainfall in some parts of Madhya Pradesh, which is expected to occur in the next few days. The eastern and some western regions of the state will be experiencing the most downpour.
