Las Vegas in the USA is all about splurging. It is an unsaid rule that things in Las Vegas are overpriced compared to other cities. However, now a five-star property is getting flak for serving a poorly made plate of loaded nachos chips. Last week, a customer who dined at the five-star Fountainbleau Hotel on the Vegas Strip shared a photo of a $24 plate of nachos (approximately Rs 2,000) that included just six soggy chips. If that wasn’t enough, the customer was reportedly served this dish after waiting for an hour.
This post soon gathered over 1.4 million views. Soon people began trolling the hotel for its shoddy food and slow service, especially considering its reputation and high price point. Commenting on the above-mentioned plate of nachos, an X user wrote, “More condiments than chips. Wow.” Another person wrote, “This is hilarious and a prime example of how Vegas is a huge rip-off. Imagine paying $24 for this?” An X user noted, “I understand that this place might be a certain level of “experience”, but what kind of experience is this…? 6 soggy nachos, and an hour wait?”

Interestingly, many other restaurants latched onto this controversy and started sharing photos of their appetising-looking nacho dishes, alongside the hashtag #nachogate. Referring to these posts, an X user wrote, “Love seeing all the nacho gate tweets. This just makes me want to go and do a whole ass nacho tour in Vegas. Keep the pics coming!!”

Three days later, Fountainbleau Hotel indirectly addressed their nacho dish criticism and launched a new nacho chips-based dish called Adobo Chicken Nachos, priced at $21 (approximately Rs 1,700). While sharing a photo that showed a plate of loaded nachos, the hotel wrote, “The Tavern menu was designed to be “bar food favorites, all grown up.” We hope you’ll excuse our growing pains while the nachos went through their awkward phase. We’re thrilled to report they’ve matured into one stacked snack.”

Commenting on it, an X user wrote, “Twitter really bullied this restaurant into changing their dish (rightfully so) in less than a week LMAO” However, some people were still not impressed. An X user remarked, “Your “new and improved” plate still is not deserving of $21. Just because you are a new fancy hotel that costs billions doesn’t mean you should be overcharging. Your location is too far away from the rest of the action. I don’t see this hotel staying in business.”
