In a recent viral video, the spotlight shines on a less-discussed scenario: male harassment by women. The footage captures a tense exchange between a female passenger and an Uber driver whose vehicle broke down mid-journey. What unfolds is a barrage of insults and demands directed at the driver, illustrating the challenges he faces due to his unfortunate incident.
The video starts with the woman venting her frustration about the breakdown and threatening to take legal action against the driver. Despite his pleas for understanding, she continues to belittle his livelihood by insulting his taxi as inadequate (‘Ghatiya, do kodi ki gadi’). The driver, in his defence, explains that he relies on the job for his daily sustenance, but the woman disregards his pleas and mocks his status.

Persistently, she demanded a refund for the deducted fare of Rs. 150, ignoring the driver’s explanation that refunds are handled by Uber. She even goes as far as to accuse him of being a fraud.
When the driver threatens to report her behaviour to Uber, the woman’s ego remains unchecked. She escalated the situation with threats of physical violence and public humiliation. “Chappal marungi sidha muh pe,” she yelled at him.

The video has sparked widespread reactions from viewers, with some condemning the woman’s behaviour as unacceptable, emphasising the importance of basic human decency. “She has crossed the limits very clearly! Her behaviour is not acceptable even if the can driver might not have maintained the vehicle properly. This isn’t the way of treating a fellow human being,” said one. “Police should note the incident in their records and create a file for these types of people so that in the future, if these types of ladies falsely accuse someone, the accused does not have to go to jail until proven guilty,” commented another.
Others, however, argue that while her tone was objectionable, the responsibility lies with the driver to maintain a properly functioning vehicle for customer satisfaction. One remarked, “I completely agree with the woman’s point of view. It’s the cab driver’s responsibility to ensure the car is well-maintained to avoid any inconvenience for the passenger. However, I don’t appreciate her tone.”
“Both are wrong at their place. But this time lady is more correct because if she is paying the amount, she got the full right to get the best service possible. “Rozi roti hai toh theek karao” true. Car should be neat and clean and safe for the customer as Uber promised for that,” expressed another.
