Grammy Winner Ricky Kej Composes Bengaluru Airport's Anthem Song
On Friday, the Bangalore International Airport Limited unveiled KIA's brand new anthem song, composed by three-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Kej.

The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Bengaluru has got its official anthem, composed by none other than three-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Kej. On Friday, the Kannada-English track was unveiled at the airport’s own premises, where the music video was displayed by Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL). The Bengaluru airport’s anthem song features the voices of two-time Grammy winner Lonnie Park and Kannada singer Siddhartha Belmannu. It is now available on various platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Wynk.

A video shared by BLR Airport on its X handle announced the anthem launch with a caption that read, “BLR Airport’s new tune is an anthem! Composed by Grammy winner Ricky Kej and his collaborators, this song is a tribute to BLR Airport—a place of infinite possibilities, connections, and a gateway to the future.”

In the following tweets, the music video was shared, picturising countless moments and emotions that are witnessed at the airport against the backdrop of the bilingual song. The song was uploaded in three parts. While the first one is called The Gift of Reunion, the second is Until We Meet Again. “#BLRAirport is a gateway to dreams and aspirations. Follow the journey of a heartfelt farewell in the #BLRAirportAnthem composed by 3-time Grammy-award winner Ricky Tej,” the post read.

The final part is called Inclusive Experiences, showing friends discover comfort and conveniences at the airport. In another video, the BLR Airport staff could be seen matching their steps to the anthem song as they celebrated the launch.

While speaking to the audience, Ricky Kej shared his experience working on the song and even about receiving a call from the legendary Lata Mangeshkar after winning his first Grammy. “When I won my first Grammy and landed in Bangalore, I got a call from an unknown number from Mumbai. I picked it up, and a 16-year-old voice told me, ‘Hello, I am Lata, is this Ricky?’ I am like, ‘Who Lata?’ and the other person was like, ‘I am Lata; I am a singer. It was not until someone grabbed the phone from me and revealed she was Lata Mangeshkar speaking,” Tej once told Zoom Digital.
