Nowadays, the trend of discovering unexpected items in dishes have become quite common. From finding insects to other surprising elements, the list goes on. Recently, an incident has come to limelight where a man’s dining experience took a distressing turn at a local restaurant in Malaysia.
Sharing his ordeal on Facebook, Shawn Cgy recounted his experience when he took his in-laws out for lunch at a restaurant in Sabah, Malaysia. Shawn stated in the post that they had ordered a dish of barbecued pork with rice noodles. Upon the dish’s arrival, Shawn’s father-in-law praised the chef’s precise cutting skills, remarking, “Every piece of barbecued pork is cut so thin."
However, as soon as his father-in-law began to eat another piece of the pork, he turned it over only to discover a used plaster cast. Following this, Shawn called the restaurant owner’s wife and inquired about the unsettling discovery.
“This wonderful scene appeared. I called the bossy lady and asked her, “Excuse me, please ask what this is." Her first reaction was not to apologize but to go to the kitchen and have a look," he shared in his post written in Chinese.
After returning from the kitchen, the owner’s wife informed that the worker had a plaster on his hand and had handled the rice noodles. The restaurant owner then apologised and acknowledged the presence of germs on the hand. He also offered a complimentary meal to the family.
Shawn and his in-laws expressed their concern about potential health risks associated with the plaster cast. To which, the owner’s wife responded, “It’s not that serious." The boss also remarked, “I can’t ensure 100% oversight of the workers’ actions, I have to monitor both the front and back."
Hearing this, the family felt disgusted and promptly left the place.

His ordeal sparked a plethora of reactions from online users with one user commenting, “How dare she say it’s not that serious! Ask her to see that several people have died from food poisoning in Taiwanese vegetarian restaurants in the past few days. The Taiwanese police tested and suspected that the wounds on the employees’ hands were caused by bacterial infections and viruses."
“I don’t like this store. The attitude is very bad! Thank you for posting," another person expressed.
An individual helpfully suggested, “Greetings. You can make a complaint to the nearest district health office or through Sabah Healthline at 0198602929 (WhatsApp only). Thank you."
