Did Tim Cook Call Apple's Ad A 'Fumble'? Indian Student's Post Leaves Internet Confused
In a now-deleted social media post, a student had shared a photo with Tim Cook and claimed to have asked the CEO about the controversial IPad ad.

Apple recently released the new iPad Pro, featuring a lightweight design and what is said to be the world’s most advanced display for an incredible visual experience. Despite the excitement, Apple faced backlash for their ad campaign, as many found it insensitive. Following public criticism, the tech giant apologised and promised to withdraw the ad. Amid this controversy, two Indian students had a surprise meet with Apple CEO Tim Cook at Stanford. In a now-deleted social media post, one of the students had shared a photo with Cook and claimed to have asked the CEO about the controversial ad. To which, Cook reportedly called it a major blunder. However, many took the comment seriously and thought that the Cook had genuinely criticised the ad. The student later clarified it was just a joke.

According to reports, the user shared a photo with Cook on X and initially wrote, “Met the one and only Tim Cook on a dish hike run at Stanford. Asked him about the new Apple iPad campaign and here’s what he said…” In a follow up post, the student added Cook’s alleged response, “Yeah twas a major fumble.”

Later, the student shared another post, claiming that the earlier post was just a joke. He clarified that they didn’t intend to show disrespect by asking Tim Cook about such a big issue like the iPad ad campaign in person. The student expressed surprise that this had become news and mentioned that Cook would never actually use a word like ‘fumble’. The student further added that Cook was very nice and they didn’t want to disrespect him. He also shared that the CEO asked what “DUNCH” was because it was their pre-DUNCH run and they joked that maybe someday he would join them.

For those not aware, Apple’s recent iPad Pro ad showed the tablet’s abilities like watching TV, listening to music and playing video games, in their thinnest device. However, the ad also featured musical instruments, paint cans, arcade games and smiling balls being crushed by a huge hydraulic press. Eventually, the ad concluded with iPad, leading many to interpret it as technology taking over human creativity. Critics argued that the tech giant has harmed its image.
