Destination weddings have become quite in fashion as they offer a distinctive experience beyond the conventional norms. The selected destination eventually becomes an important part of the couple’s love story. A similar instance happened in this duo’s case, who hailed from Gujarat and Kerala. They held their destination wedding at minus 25 degrees Celsius, 12500 feet in Himachal Pradesh’s Spiti’s Morang. It was a first-of-its-kind event in the region; it was held in February 2024. A video of this event has surfaced on Instagram which shows a jeep decorated with flowers entering the wedding’s venue. Despite the low temperatures, the enthusiasm among the guests refuses to dampen and they keep on enjoying and dancing. Among all the wedding attendees, only the priest is covering himself fully with woollen clothes. The clip also shows the couple, dressed in the best of their clothes, tying the knot.

The clip has garnered more than 6 million views. As described in the caption, this wedding expedition has been recorded in the India Book of Records as the Longest road trip wedding expedition.

Social media users applauded the clip and one of them commented that this idea will make sure that the toxic relatives don’t arrive there too. Others commented humorously that the aged priest must be having a hard time conducting the wedding rituals. Some, however, opined that these extravagant weddings cause immense debt for the organisers.

Another clip from the wedding surfaced on Twitter which shows the bride, wearing a heavy lehenga, sitting with the groom in a sherwani in the mandap. There was snow all around them and it even started snowing at one point during the rituals. They were wearing gloves to protect themselves from the biting cold.

According to a report, the bride is from Gujarat and works in Mumbai and the groom is from Kerala and has a business in Dubai. The bride visited Spiti as a solo traveller in 2021 and 2023. She was enchanted by the beauty and decided to get married there. They got engaged in Mumbai after dating for 13 years and tied the nuptial knot in the snowy valley.
