Before Hurricane Milton hit Florida, Caroline Calloway’s statement about possibly not surviving the storm sparked mixed reactions among her followers. While some were worried, others criticised her for ignoring safety advice. Later, she clarified her comments in an interview with People, saying her words were misunderstood. She assured her fans that they had less reason to worry, as her beachfront home in Sarasota isn’t located on the ground floor.
She said, “I don’t know who started the rumour that I live on the ground floor, but that is not true. I live three stories up in a building with the hurricane grade windows and three-foot-thick concrete walls. The building’s never flooded before.”
Caroline Calloway shared more details on why she chose to stay at her home during the hurricane. She mentioned that she doesn’t drive and airports in her area were shut down, she had no other way to leave. She also explained that she did not want to go to her mother’s home because of a bad experience she had there during Hurricane Ian in 2022. According to her, they were stuck for three days without water or electricity, and when their food supply ran out, they were rescued by the US military.
