Bengaluru woman finds cockroach in sandwich ordered from Zomato, internet reacts to viral post.

The level of food contamination from outside sources has reached a point where trusting anything ordered from restaurants is becoming increasingly difficult. From reports of street vendors intentionally contaminating food with bodily fluids to frequent incidents of customers discovering insects and other contaminants in their meals, the situation is dire. Adding to this disturbing trend, a woman in Bengaluru recently found a cockroach in her sandwich ordered from Zomato.

On the Reddit platform, user @NomadicGeek1 shared the unsettling encounter on the ‘Bangalore’ subreddit, posting an image showing a tiny cockroach at the edge of the packaging in which the sandwich was wrapped. The OP revealed in the comments, “I also did eat one piece and only noticed when it started moving,” and asked if they should see a doctor since they had consumed a portion before noticing the cockroach on an uneaten piece and discarded it.

Responses to the post highlighted that such incidents are unfortunately not uncommon. One commenter cautioned, “Best stay away from any cloud kitchens on Swiggy/Zomato. Quality and standards are not restaurant level.” Another shared, “I’ve found cockroaches multiple times, in the soup ordered from a cloud kitchen, in the biryani ordered from the famous Nandini restaurant. All i know is very few of them follow proper hygiene & the sensible thing is to avoid having outside food.”

A third commenter advised, “Guys stop eating sandwiches outside. Make your own at home. Overpriced af. It doesn’t even costs Rs 15 to make one and they sell it for 100-200 whatever. I have just stopped eating outside. I dont even crave anymore. They are putting too much shit in outside and packed foods.”

Indeed, given the escalating concerns surrounding food safety, is it time to completely rethink the option of dining out?
